The beginning of a new social responsible initiative…

A social responsible arm was developed initially for the purpose of supporting the villagers of Ahangama. The initiative was established as “Back-to-life”.The first project was to construct 25 houses for the tsunami affected families of Ahangama.

Purchase of Land…  

Exodus Travels Ltd (a member of the First Choice group UK) came forward as the main donor to support the project.They  purchased a 0.7019 hectares of land to put up the houses giving their full strength to the “Back to life” housing project.The purchased land was donated through the social responsible arm of Exodus Travels Ltd- “ Friends of Conservation ”.


Building in progress… 

The building of the houses started at an auspicious time with Budhist religious observances – keeping in line with the beliefs of the beneficieries.

The project Back to life began construction of 11 houses on 06th Feb 2006.



The assistance provided to four other families…

While the eleven houses were taking shape, Back to life helped another four families to build their homes on their own land elsewhere.

Completion of  the first phase…
The first phase was completed by september 2006.The first completed 11 houses were handed over officially on 20th September 2006 at a charming ceremony. The chief guest at the ceremony was Mr.Peter Burrell – Product & Operations director of Exodus from UK.Clergy,our board of directors, government representatives, well wishers & recipient families participated at this ceremony.

Further to uplift the facilities of a rural school in the village which was effected by Tsunami, with the sponsership of our overseas partners following was donated to Rohana Maha Vidyalaya in Ahangama.

  • A Fixed Deposit worth of LKR 150,000/- to pay the monthly school telephone bill from the interest receive.
