How it all started…
On 26th December 2004, The whole of South Asia experienced the worst ever natural catastrophe that left thousands of families homeless in Sri Lanka.
Mr.Nilmin Nanayakkara the Managing Director of Insight resort was at the hotel with his board of directors on this fateful day.Our board members felt indebted to villagers of Ahangama for rescuing and evacuating guests of this hotel inspite of bearing the grief and sorrow of loosing their kith & kin. This unforgettable sight penetrated into the heart & mind of our Managing Director who immediately came forward with a plan to help the needy in the village of Ahangama not only by re-establishing the hotel and offering jobs but also by helping the villagers in all possible ways. Plans were made to offer 25 houses to the village folk who had lost everything they had.Behind this humanitarian project is Nkar Travels & Tours (Pvt ) Ltd, which is a sister company of Insight,where Mr.Nilmin Nanayakkara is also the MD.

The need of the hour… NKAR within days embarked on distributing dry rations to the villagers.
Distributing clothes provided by our overseas partners… With the entire world knowing the catastrophe our overseas partners in business responded generously and spontaneously. A shipment of clothes and shoes was sent for distribution. How Nkar & Insight staff got involved in distributing goods…

The Company’s desire to help people of Ahangama with the assistance of our business partners overseas, Nkar Travels & Tours ( Pvt ) Ltd launched the “Back to Life” resheltering programme.
